Snowboarder bumper

U.S. Patent No. 6,019,608

Learning to snowboard can be a painful experience. It involves a lot of falling down and the occasional sprained or broken wrist. This device, patented in 2000, is supposed to be a remedy.

The snowboarder bumper consists of a vest with semi-flexible poles extending outward like spokes. Attached to the ends of the poles is a Hula Hoop-like ring.

When a boarder begins to fall, the ring/bumper keeps the boarder upright long enough to recover his or her balance. Running into trees isn't supposed to be a problem either. The bumper simply bounces off them. Getting into the ski lodge, however, is a different matter.
