Drugs in America from the time America was a British colony to the present. Primarily about alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and opium related drugs.

Over 500 interesting and fairly easy to understand pages. The book would be useful to someone doing research, or anyone interested in the history of drugs in the US.

Drugs in American Society

It doesn't imply that all drug use is bad, but it lets you know that some drugs are very addictive, and not all addicts are living in the ghetto or on the streets. This is something that can happen to anyone regardless of success, status or social background.

Shows examples of the lives of drug users, and lets you know that this could happen to you. Most of the drug use cases in the book were college educated. Certainly not what most of us think of when we think of addict. Dispels the images we have of addicts and replace it with the truth.

A small book about various legal hallucinogens that can be grown in the home. Information describes the plant, it's habitat, and how to cultivate it in the home. The book doesn't go into common problems in cultivation (diseases, pests, etc), however.

A good starting point for those interested in the subject of legal home grown hallucinogens, but when you find something that interests you, get more information online or buy a book specific to growing that plant.

Although it was shorter than I would have liked, this book supplies most of the info you need to know for safe dosage and acquisition of legal herbs and chemicals with psychoactive properties of several dozen legal highs.

Get the book and after reading it if there are any substances you are interested in, find out more about them on the internet before ingesting anything.

While it may be regarded as the world's most liberal country, Holland has low rates of drug use, addiction, and AIDS as well as the lowest rates of teen pregnancy, abortion and imprisonment in the world.

This movie looks at social issues, such as drug use, and how they are handled in Holland. It is a provocative argument for fighting social taboos by making them legal. Perhaps someday logic will prevail in this country.

An excellent source of information on the chemistry behind ethnobotanicals. It covers a vast amount of material and the lengthy reference section is worth the trouble of locating this book.

Not recommended for the casual reader, this is for the advanced student or practicing scientist or related professional.

The Chemistry of Mind-Altering Drugs:
History, Pharmacology, and Cultural Context

This is an excellent pharmacology text book. It would be of little value to the casual reader because the chemistry and technical information would go over most peoples heads.

Besides chemistry, the book looks at the use of drugs at the present time and how they have been used in the past. If you are a chemist or a professional in some related field, this is a book you will appreciate.
