THC Content Of Cannabis Products

THC is the primary cannabinoid that produces intoxication when a person uses a cannabis product such as hashish oil (hash oil), hashish (hash), or marijuana.

Hashish Oil: The THC content of good to excellent hashish oil varies from 30% to 80% THC. Reports of white oil (the most potent grade of hashish oil) with a 90% THC content have been reported.

Hashish: The THC content of good to excellent hashish varies from 20% to 60% THC. Reports of hashish with a 70% THC content have been reported.

The THC content of both high quality hash and hash oil have stayed the same over time, with the exception of some exceptional hashish presently produced in Holland.

Top quality hashish produced in Holland (nether-dope) can have a THC content of over 60%. It is more potent than other types of hashish. Only top grades of fresh hash from places like Nepal and Afghanistan can come close.

However, the hashish and hash oil available (in most countries that have to import) has deteriorated in quality since the 1970's. Countries that produce hashish and hash oil have been exporting greater quantities of a lower quality product.

You will probably never encounter very good to excellent hashish or hash oil unless you

--- know somebody who imports or manufactures it
--- live in (or visit) a country where it is produced

Marijuana has increased in potency since becoming very popular in the 1960's. The increase in potency is due to advanced growing techniques including hydroponics and new high potency seed strains.

Sinsemilla marijuana is a name for female plants that have not produced seeds. Not producing seeds allows the plant to use more energy producing THC and other chemicals that users enjoy.

An ancient tradition for cannabis growers, sinsemilla is the result of removing male plants from the grow environment before they have a chance to fertilize the females.

People who grow hydroponic marijuana indoors always grow sinsemilla. Growing sinsemilla outdoors is harder. A single male plant can fertilize females within an area of a few hundred feet.

In the 1960's and prior to that, the good commercial grade marijuana available to most smokers had a THC content of about 2% to 5% and premium sinsemilla had a THC content that was somewhat higher. Some sources say that marijuana with THC content of 1% to 4% was considered good dope by most americans in the 1960's.

In the year 2007, the good commercial grade marijuana available to most users had a THC content of about 5% to 10% and premium sinsemilla was about 10% to 20% THC.

Some reports have marijuana with a THC content of over 25% being produced by some advanced hydroponic growers. 25%-30% THC is probably the maximum potential for marijuana. Any claims of marijuana with a THC content anywhere over 30% should be treated with skepticism.

Note: The figures above are based on high quality product (or better) only. The majority of cannabis sold is inferior product that is nowhere near the figures stated above.

Premium grade marijuana, hashish, and hash oil usually sell for somewhere around twice the price (or more) of regular commercial grade product. Unless you pay the high price, chances are anything you buy on the street will be regular commercial grade.

Even if you are paying for top of the line dope, you could be getting ripped-off. Try to get any cannabis product you buy directly from someone who produces them. Better still, grow your own marijuana and you can use it to produce your own hashish and hash oil.

Not for the small time grower, this is more for commercial operations and advanced growers. Understanding this book requires that you have a some knowledge of horticultural and scientific terminology.

Marijuana Chemistry:
Genetics, Processing And Potency

Explains the various cannabinoids that marijuana is made up of and how things like growing conditions, harvesting, processing, affect the potency of the final product.

Lots of tables, graphs, and other info. Recommended for the intermediate and expert marijuana grower, this is heavy on chemistry. If you do not have a very good grasp of science and chemistry this book is not for you.

Very good book for the marijuana grower that would like to produce their own premium seed variety for personal use, or to market and sell worldwide. Contains photographs, illustrations, and interviews with breeders and seed bank professionals.
