How to Counter Automated Calls in California

This past special election was the worst inundation of law-breaking we have ever had to endure. I am referring to the illegal operation of automated phone dialers and recorded messages.

Pursuant to California Public Utilities Commission Code Section 2874 and 2876, I am encouraging you to file a police report every time you get an illegal call. A live person must first inform you of the nature of the call, the name, address and telephone number of the organization, and most important, they have to get your permission before playing any recording. File a police report, contact your city attorney, and make them pay a $500 fine for each illegal call they make.
