Smoky Barbecue Sauce

Smoky Barbecue Sauce Makes about 4 cups

  • 3 cups minced yellow onions
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup braising liquid from the smoker
  • 3 cups tomato ketchup
  • Tabasco sauce, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

In a heavy saucepan over medium high heat, saute the onions in the oil until golden brown. Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 1 hour.
