Hot Dog Topping - Old Fashioned Coney Island Sauce

6 to 8 servings

• 1 pound ground beef
• 1 medium onion, chopped
• 3 tablespoons chili powder
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
• 3/4 teaspoon cumin powder
• 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
• 2 cups water
• Tomato sauce (optional)

Brown the ground beef and onions.

Drain.

Add remaining ingredients except water and the tomato sauce.

Mix well. Add water.

Simmer for 1 hour.

Stir in tomato sauce to taste before serving, if desired. Spoon over grilled franks and top with cheese.
