Comedy Face Masks

 

Date Bars

Makes 24 bars

  • 2 cups dates
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups oatmeal
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Cut up the dates and cook them in a saucepan with the water and sugar until the mixture is thick. In a bowl, mix together the oatmeal, flour, brown sugar, shortening, salt, baking soda and cinnamon until crumbly. Put half of the crumbs on the bottom of a 9-by-13-inch pan and spread the dates on top. Add the rest of the crumbs to the top. Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.

Per serving: 236 calories, 9 g fat, 0 mg cholesterol, 148 mg sodium, 38 g carbohydrates, 2 g protein, 2 g fiber.
