The Computer Before Christmas

'Twas a few hours 'fore Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing was working, not even the mouse.

My wife with a screwdriver, and I with the book
Set up our computer. Oh, the trouble it took!

We plugged in the tower and switched on the screen
A bright flash of light -- then nothing but green.

A key press, a mouse click, a shake of the case.
Nothing would budge; my heart started to race.

The children were snoozing, finally at rest
Dreaming of Doom matches, seeing who's best.

It's taken forever and I'm still on hold
"Your call is important." At least, that's what I'm told.

The printer was ready, but not yet hooked up
It sat in a puddle--a gift from our pup.
