Exact age of historical events

A tourist and a guide visited a Maya temple in Central America. The guide duly noted the various interesting things about the temple and site, including the fact that archaeologists had found great treasures buried there.

The tourist asked how old the temple was.

“One thousand, five hundred and three years,” replied the guide.

Amazed by the guide's very precise dating, the tourist asked how he could come up with such a number.

“Easy,” answered the guide, “an archaeologist told me the temple was 1,500 years old and that was three years ago.”
