Short Considerations in life

Sock it away

If long, sweaty workouts leave your poor feet sore and blistered, those stinky socks you just peeled off could be to blame. Some sock fabrics are better than others at preventing blister-causing friction, says a study from the University of Missouri. Cotton socks chafe the most and are most apt to cause blisters at high moisture levels, while nylon-and acrylic-fiber socks had lower friction levels because they tend to wick away moisture.

Secondhand smoke

There's nothing secondhand about cigarette smoke, according to the U.S. Surgeon General's latest report. Fully 126 million nonsmoking Americans breathe it in regularly, and those who are exposed at home or work increase their risk of developing heart disease by 25 percent to 30 percent and lung cancer by 20 percent to 30 percent. Even brief exposure can cause immediate harm.
