Why you should increase your good cholesterol

No matter what your level is, Good is better then Bad.

Most Americans could benefit from higher levels of “good” cholesterol. Every one-point rise in HDL (“good” cholesterol) protects the heart at least as much as a one-point drop in LDL (“bad” cholesterol), a Johns Hopkins University study reports. Each HDL point reduces your risk of a fatal heart attack by 2 percent. Women should take steps to push their HDL levels above 50 mg/dl; men, above 40 mg/dl.
