That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...

Here's my story.

After two years of being an employee at Health Net in Rancho Cordova, they are outsourcing the IT department. I am in a "re-badge pool", and must interview with the vendor, Cognizant, for one of the re-badge spots. I have no idea what criteria they will use to decide. There are 17 people in the pool for 12 spots. If they simply use "seniority", or number of years, I'm a dead man. But I am more versatile, not by choice, but have worked on several systems, where most of my coworkers only work in one system. I know a little about each system. My coworkers all know one system, but they know it well.

I'll find out this week or next week my fate. Even if I'm not re-badged, I have a job until June, I believe, but I'd rather be re-badged. I'm not sure about Cognizant's vacation time policy. Something tells me they have none, and if I took a vacation, it's time without pay. But if they offer me the re-badge, I'll take it.

Even if I am re-badged, I figure I'll have a job for about two years. They have this fancy word "Knowledge Transfer", where you tell other people how to do your job so they can lay you off and hire some guy in India to replace you.

And I was naive enough to think this job was "it". The one I can settle down in.

Yeah right!

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...
