Stem Cell Controversy between Limbaugh and Michael J. Fox, The real story behind Limbaugh and Stem Cell Research

October 30, 2006

Last week Rush Limbaugh accused actor Michael J. Fox's appearance in a campaign ad for Missouri Democratic Senate candidate Claire McCaskill, Rush Limbaugh claimed: "Daffy Duck could have done a commercial for Claire McCaskill, saying the same things that Fox did, misleading about stem cell research ... and my reaction would've been the same." Earlier in the week, Limbaugh declared that Fox, who has Parkinson's disease, was "moving all around and shaking" in the ad, his physical appearance was "purely an act." Limbaugh then added that Fox "[e]ither didn't take his medication or he's acting," and has since refused to apologize for suggesting that Fox was "acting" in the ad.

Rush went on the record on his radio show, saying "This is not about Parkinson's disease to me, and this not about Michael J. Fox and it never was and, to me, it is not personal and never has been. I don't know him. I've no -- I've never met him. I know of him only through his career as an actor and a political activist."

Limbaugh went on "I think when anyone climbs into the arena of ideas -- the political arena of ideas -- particularly during a heated campaign, they do not get the special privilege of being the only fighter allowed to throw a punch. There are not special people among us who get to enter the political arena of ideas and say whatever they want; they can mislead, they can misquote, they can misrepresent, they can even lie; and yet we're supposed to, if they are victims of something, stand back, be compassionate, be tolerant and understand and not respond."

Rush failed to explain by what logic that he is special and can just be the only one allowed to break his own rules.

I felt the Bull Crap was getting pretty deep and decided to check with my wise and ancient guru back in the hollers of Moonshine Country somewhere in the coal mining areas of the Appalachians. All the folks call him, "Tater" Ramesy, since no ones knows his real name. He is older than anyone else and done forgot his own real name and everyone born since then is just to young to ask.

Tater says, the whole argument against Stem Cell is pretty lame. He doesn't understand how people can be against Stem Cell Research just cause researchers take an egg from a female lady and fertilize it with a man's sperm to clone stem cells that can be developed into various types of cells to be used in medical experiments to try and find a cure for various ailments of the human race. Originally these eggs were taken out of a woman's womb and body to be fertilized with male sperm outside the body, then the fertilized would be implanted back into the woman enabling her to have a child. Researchers were using the left over fertilized to clone stem cells.

Not that Tater is for or against stem cell research, claim's he hasn't figured what side of the logic and reasoning. He figures if God wanted human eggs to live outside of the human body, he would have put a shell around them, just like chicken and bird eggs. Then a woman could sit on an egg for nine months while she talked on the phone, watched Oprah and Dr. Phil on TV.

Tater claim's if the people against stem cell research were so all and mighty righteous, they would consider the act of first removing the egg from a women's womb to be unnatural act and against God's will. Using this logic, Tater goes on to say the people claiming the right to life and respecting God's natural laws have already broken their own code when an egg is removed from a women for whatever reason. Then again, obscenely huge amounts of money is being made off of infertile women and the in-vitro fertilization process, and we all know money changes the natural order of things and the conservatives need their money.

Tater also goes say Limbaugh shouldn't be talking about another man's ailments like Parkinson's disease, but gives Limbaugh some leeway figuring Rush may still be overdosed on pain killers and not talking clear. It is just not natural for one man to be so mean spirited unless his panties are tied in a knot, he is drunk, overdosed on mind altering drugs or just saying these things to make a lot of money.
