What's Happened To Christmas?

(ACLU... Bah Humbug!)

What's happened to Christmas? Where did it go? I've just been out shopping, and I need to know. It seems our traditions are under attack 'Cause someone took Christmas... and I want it back!

Some stores seem to think that the "Holiday's" fine As long as it bolsters the old bottom line... But don't mention "Christmas" 'cause that might offend. So when did this happen? And where does it end?

No more nativities in the Town Square, No carols are sung, and no public prayer. "In God We Trust" may soon be gone too If "the people" concede to the ACLU.

"One nation" is fine... but not "under God." But " Come on! It's the Holidays! Come spend your wad!" WELL, IS IT OR ISN'T IT?! MAKE UP YOUR MIND! Must we hide our beliefs? Must faith be confined?

Well then, we WON'T offend 'cause we wouldn't dare! We'll just practice our "Christmas" traditions elsewhere. We'll shop where the day IS acknowledged as such, And the stores where it ISN'T?! They shouldn't mind... much.

Our liberties are in danger, it's true. They've been taken from me; they've been taken from you. Then the culprits who snatch them go on to pretend That it's those very freedoms they're here to defend!

They think folks like us are too simple to see They're "defenders of freedom," as THEY define "free" . Freedom FROM faith. And what's really odd? They say you can pray... if you don't pray to God!?!

Well, if not to God, then to Whom DOES one pray? (Can't the ACLU just take off this one day?) "Church/State Separation"... their ultimate cause. (I don't think they've read the "establishment clause.")

And they're certainly, totally quite unaware The "free exercise" clause has EVER been there! They're not real big fans of "original intent;" The founders, I guess, weren't quite sure what they meant.

Yet, I've read their prayers, and it's quite clear to me That they founded this nation on bended knee. But NOW faith must be in more general terms... Faith in oneself or in social concerns.

But certainly NOT faith in God or His Word... Such belief must be stifled, unspoken, unheard. Prayer... but to WHOM?! And faith... but in WHAT?! Do they think that I'm... some kind of a nut?! (NO, JUST STUPID)

(Don't answer that question; I already know!) That's exactly their point, and they freely say so! And I'm not alone... they think you're nuts too If you really believe that Christmas is true.

Well, my faith may be simple, and it may be weak, But just like the wise men, it's God that I seek. His favor I treasure, His face I adore, No, the true Gift of Christmas is not in a store.

"King of Kings!" I will shout it... and just let them try To stifle my joy, or to muffle my cry. 'Cause there's no one on earth that can e'er take away The Gift that God gave us that first Christmas Day!

Merry Christmas! And Happy Hanukkah to our Jewish neighbors!
