Households: Who are they?

1. Describe briefly the pattern of world population growth - where is the world growing rapidly and where is it growing slowly? Do you have any explanations for the differential growth rates?

2. What is the current population of the United States? Rhode Island?  What is the projection for population in 2025 for the US? for Rhode Island?

3. You've certainly heard about the "baby boomers," but who are they?  When was this generation born and why do you hear so much about them? 

4.  What is the life expectancy of a child born in the US today?  How many more years can a female expect to live than a male?

5. Immigration is a hot topic - especially in California and Florida.  What is the magnitude of immigration into the US?  Where are they coming from and where are they going? 

6. Another baby boomer question.  You are to identify the impact of the baby boomer generation on one market and find an article that discusses it.   For example, what is the impact of the baby boomers on the housing market?   What is the impact of the baby boomers on advertising?  What is the relationship between the boomers and Viagra?  Please pass in a copy of the article.
